This what real American cowboys look like today, and they are driving horses across a stream at first daylight. These professional wranglers had 500 head of saddle horses to move across the high sagebrush desert of northwestern Colorado, and I was able to hang with them for most of a week. Quite an experience for an eastern guy goes without saying.
I was facing due west and the black of night is receding into the distance, turning the sky into the deep rich blue of early dawn. A little cold bite was in the air, too. That's a dusting of overnight snow on the ground in early April. The water flew and the hooves pounded...some great action captured twice using the reflection in the water!
