This barn door silhouette shows a young girl talking things through with her horse, getting things off her mind and into words that someone or something will hear. What the heartfelt matter is we don’t really know, but for many centuries endless tears have been poured into horse’s manes which certainly makes them good listeners. It’s a good thing horses like us.
I enjoy shooting silhouettes with horses and their people, especially with this stable door opening onto the hills and mountains of a beautiful Pennsylvania summer day. Many of the images such as this one can have good storytelling qualities with deep personal bonds very evident, and then the view becomes more than just a picture about the connection between horse and rider.
