This is the view of Lake Michigan from 450 feet high at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It is simply stunning how much sand there is in Michigan. Standing here looking left and right, you see nothing but these gigantic sand dunes into the horizon both ways on the coast, and it is remarkable.
At this height, you can see the slight curvature of the earth in the horizon about 25 miles out. You can also see the depth of the water change from green at the shallow shore change into deeper blue going out into the lake.
